The Poppaw Queen is a feature length documentary which dives into the deep history of the Queen Family in Prince George’s County Maryland. Mary “The Poppaw” Queen was the earliest ancestor of the Queen lineage who was illegally sold into slavery. Queen descendants later filed lawsuits against slaveholders to assert their claim of freedom.

The film follows a descendant of the Queen Family, Malachi E. Robinson, as he discovers his family’s past and reveals new details about his ancestors’ historic fight for freedom.
