1988* is a follow-up to the 2024 short film PIPE DREAM, directed by Malachi E. Robinson, which followed rising pop star Milo Rivers as he battled depression and the isolating pressures of fame. In his search for relief, Milo turns to a mysterious hallucinogen called DREAM. 1988* expands the lore of DREAM through a new lens, centering on DJ, an underground performer who is lured into a secretive cult. As DJ’s grip on reality begins to unravel, the film deepens the exploration of ambition, escapism, and the blurred line between art and control.
